Hi, I’m Tinger Hseih (pronounced Ting-er Shay). I’m an upbeat travel and food blogger passionate about sharing my global adventures and healthier regional cuisines with open-minded friends.
Almost 10 years ago, I traveled to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It was the first city I chose to visit as an adult and without my parents. I picked this destination because I was bored with my 9-5 job in finance and needed an escape outside of southern California. When I pictured Rio, I thought of tanning along side the sunny beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana, eating tender grilled pieces of steak at the churrascaria, dancing at the discotecas all night long, and cheering for a local Brazilian soccer team at the Maracana stadium; these imageries were inspired from Snoop Dogg’s “Beautiful” music video and childhood stories told by my Brazilian aunt. Upon landing there, I was in love immediately! Everything I had imaged, I experienced. From that moment on, I was addicted to traveling.
Fast forward a few years later, I was extremely stressed at my desk job at my high-pressure job in advertising, getting sour stomachs and bloating, feeling tired all the time, and sensing psoriasis flare-ups. I was unhappy and am feeling uncomfortable in my own skin. I knew it was time for a change. After seeing my high school friend’s weight-loss transformation and positive outlook on life, I knew this was the change I was also looking to achieve. Not only did I lose twenty pounds in two and a half months, but I also felt like an energizer bunny, free of stomach upsets, and no longer suffered from psoriasis. All of this was done through more mindful eating and light exercise to create a more balanced and stress-free lifestyle. Because of this life changing experience, I also became a certified coach to share with others on ways to regain their own health.
As part of my teachings, I started my blog Dash of Ting to share the low carb meals for my culturally weight-loss clients and those who have a diverse palate. Dash of Ting is a dash of my healthier eating tips inspired by international food preferences. I Initially started posting my low carb Chinese, Mexican, American, and Middle Eastern Cuisines that adhered to a more keto friendly lifestyle. Shortly after, clients and friends started requesting for ways to eat healthier (keto, vegetarian, gluten free, etc.) while on the go. So I started sharing these meal options at restaurants via Dash of Ting Facebook and Instagram pages to help others. For example, many friends asked how they could eat Mexican food without going into a food coma. I would then suggest eating lower carb meals such as seafood ceviche or grilled fajitas or ensalada de nopales (cactus salad).
Today I’ve been fortunate enough to share my passion for travel inspired healthier meals with my friends on various platforms such as The Seasoned Life and live stream shows on Tastemade and Dash of Ting. As I share more of these travel and food adventures, I would love for you to join me and let me know what regional cuisines you’d like to hear more about.
As always… sending you positive vibes and love. xoxo
